Audiology

Hearing can be tested at any age, from the newborn to the adult.  If you have concerns that your child is having difficulty hearing, please contact our office to determine what type of hearing testing is most appropriate for your child.

COMMON SERVICES
Our audiology team is able to provide newborn diagnostic hearing tests, middle ear function tests, tests that evaluate cochlear outer hair cell function and traditional behavioral hearing tests.  If a permanent hearing loss is diagnosed, we also provide hearing aid fittings and follow-up services. We are committed to making sure that hearing testing and hearing health care is accessible to pediatric patients in the Lancaster area.

“Being part of a multidisciplinary team at the cleft palate clinic has changed the way I practice audiology. I have seen first hand the value of various professionals, educators, and the family working together to ensure the best outcome for the patient. I bring that experience to my audiology patients, and I’m committed to working with the whole child and not just addressing hearing in isolation.” –Rachel Sharnetzka, Audiologist
FREQUENCY OF APPOINTMENTS
Most patients with hearing loss or chronic middle ear pathology have their hearing monitored every three to six months but other patients may be referred for one appointment to rule out hearing loss as a contributing factor to speech and/developmental delays.
